Coronavirus has started to show its impact in Jammu and Kashmir as eight more persons were tested positive for the disease on Thursday taking the total number of cases in J&K to 70.
Till Wednesday the total number of Coronavirus cases in Jammu Kashmir was 62 but eight more cases have brought the health department on toes.
The number of cases were rising after the Tablighi Jamaat event in New Delhi that has also sent shock waves across the country as many of those who attended the even were found to be positive.
At present the total cases of Coronavirus in Jammu division are 17 while the same in Kashmir are 53 as per official records.
Reports of four persons is still awaited while three persons have so far been recovered from Coronavirus. The authorities have enlisted 17677 persons for observation and 10694 persons have been kept under home quarantine in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Rohit Kansal who is the principal secretary of planning department and spokesperson of the government, the first case of Coronavirus from Kashmir has recovered and discharged from the hospital.
Police and army have also extended their hand for helping the civil administration in its fight against Coronavirus. Quarantine centers have been established at different locations across the Union territory with senior officials of police taking a stock of the situation by visiting these sites.
While Jammu and Kashmir administration claims it is prepared for any eventuality, the rising cases of Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir has put them on toes. With every passing day, the number of patients is rising, although not at a very fast pace as compared to other parts of the country.
The central government is also monitoring the situation in the UT as senior functionaries of central government are in constant contact with the authorities.
