Divisional Commissioner Jammu inspects progress on NH-144A

RAJOURI, FEBRUARY 27: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer today visited Sunderbani subdivision of Rajouri district and took stock of the progress on NH144A here in a meeting of the concerned officers.

Officers who attended the meeting included DC Rajouri, Vikas Kundal; Col KR J Reddy, CDR 31 BRTF; ADC Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar; SE PWD, Nissar Ahmed Pandit; Maj. ManjuNath, OC 58 RCC and Maj Vivekanad, OC 57 RCC.

While reviewing the progress on the project, the chair was informed that there are a total 8 packages under which the existing road is being upgraded to double lane with extended shoulders. The packages start from Akhnoor and culminate at Poonch.

It was further informed that 40 villages of Rajouri district come in the alignment of the NH144 A, out of which notification for 31 villages have been made, 7 are in old act and notification process for 2 villages is underway.

Seeking the status of land compensation disbursement, the Collector land defence informed the chair that  50 per cent compensation has been disbursed.

Regarding the assessment of the structures coming in road alignment, the concerned officer said that the assessment of structures has also been done and authenticated by the BRO. The Collector Land has also informed that the land acquisition is at 3 D level.

Issues regarding the execution of works like Pegg marking, assessment of structures, payment of compensation, demolition of structures where payment has been made and mutation issues were also discussed threadbare in the meeting. The Officers from the BRO and consultants also briefed the chair about the operational issues being faced by them mostly at package 03 in Thandapani.

Speaking at the meeting, the Div Com directed the concerned officers to mobilize men and machinery to ensure that the work on the project was completed within the already set deadline. He also stressed on timely payment of compensation and structures to the rightful claimants.

Taking note of the poor maintenance of the existing Highway, the Div Com asked the BRO officers to take effective measures in this regard and make the road traffic worthy for the convenience of the commuters.

For timely clearance of the developmental bottlenecks, the Div Com asked to maintain interdepartmental coordination and hold regular meetings to sort out issues, if any.

The Div Com said that as per the directions of Office of the Lieutenant Governor all the development projects are to be expedited for their timely completion.
