Failing to get dream job, this J&K youth forced to move out for work

For the survival of family, Jammu and Kashmir’s Mohit Kumar works in Delhi as a ‘Palledar’ along with four others from his area. Mohit Kumar, son of widow belongs to a very poor family in J&K.

Mohit had aimed for a government job in J&K after passing Class 12 with the Commerce subject. But his family faced starvation-like situations with no hope for earning for him or others in their native village.

Kumar told Greater Kashmir that he wanted to study further but situation was not right and added that he opened his new firm and worked in Jammu for few months but firm faced losses making him unemployed.

He further informed that he along with four others from his area work in Delhi and load and unload goods here and added that this was a traditionally recommended work for many youth in their native villages in Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, and other places in the Jammu plains.

He further says, “If you cannot find any work, then move to Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, old Jammu city, Mumbai, and other states of the country to work there as Palledars.

Another unemployed youth, Surjeet Singh (34) from Patti Wala Mohalla in Deval village of Billawar told Greater Kashmir that due to poor financial conditions he has been working as a Palledar in Bombay (Mumbai) for the last five months and load and unload cattle feed in a company.
