The ticket checking staff of Jammu Division have apprehended a fake Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) illegally checking tickets on train number 12476 (Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Katra – Hapa) and handed him over to the police.
The incident occurred today during routine ticket checking between Jammu and Kathua. While conducting routine ticket checking on the Jammu station, Shekhar Kumar, ticket checking staff at Jammu station, was checking train number 12476 between Jammu and Kathua when he noticed a suspicious person, dressed in full ticket checking uniform, checking tickets.
Shekhar Kumar questioned the suspicious ticket checking staff, but the person was unable to provide satisfactory answers. During the investigation, his official identity card was also found to be fake. Following further action, the ticket checking staff handed over the fake ticket checker to the Kathua GRP. The GRP has registered a case and initiated an investigation into the fake documents recovered from the accused.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, commended the staff for their vigilance and stated that passenger safety and protection of their rights are the Railways’ priority. He urged passengers to always travel with valid tickets and immediately inform the officials or the Railway Helpline number 139 if any suspicious person checks their tickets or demands a fine. The Railway Administration is fully committed to ensuring passenger safety and transparent travel.
