Film shooting in J&K assembly was part of promotion in Bollywood

Jammu’s legislative assembly recently witnessed for the first time ever that not the elected representatives gave speeches but a Bollywood star was seen doing that.  Actor Huma Qureshi could be seen making speeches in Jammu’s legislative assembly for web series Maharani. 

Maharani- a Hindi-language drama streaming television series is created by Subhash Kapoor, directed by Karan Sharma and stars Huma Qureshi as the protagonist along with Sohum Shah, Amit Sial, Kani Kusruti and Inaamulhaq. The political multi-seasons series is based on the grounds of what happened in Bihar in the 1990s when Lalu Prasad Yadav made his homemaker wife Rabri Devi his successor.

Season one has 10 episodes and the third episode has been shot in Legislative Assembly complex at Jammu.

For the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, a film was shot in the state assembly. This proves how the authorities are welcoming bollywood to beautiful Jammu and Kashmir as well as extending support to Bollywood. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha headed the administration is making all efforts to bring back Bollywood to the scenic region.

The shooting of ‘Maharani’ web series took place in Jammu city in which Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi is playing the role of Chief Minister.

Also such shootings will help in promoting tourism and attract more people as well as filmmakers to shoot in UT.

The shoot began on April 2 this year. The sounds of action, cut, retake and lights, camera and action made it an unusual day for the assembly.
