Kashmir has geared up with app-based radio cab service in coming month. The talks about this project were going on since long and finally the way has been made clear for the introduction of an app-based radio cab service.
The Transport Department of Jammu and Kashmir government has recently issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) to Srinagar-based Ala Cabs and Technologies Pvt Ltd and has asked to finish up all the documentations in coming months.
Basit Qayoom of Ala Cabs said that they have received LoI from the department of transport and are on a verge of completion of formalities and preparing the vehicles by making them GPS-enabled. Qayoom added that they are the first company to launch this service and hopefully will start next month and added that passengers will be able to book cab with mobile app.
Qayoom further informed that mobile application has been prepared for the use of drivers and process for mobile app for passengers are on the way.
In the official letter it is mentioned that the Transport Department has asked Ala Cabs to complete formalities including maintaining an authorised call centre or web portal or app as well as to have control room with adequate manpower.
Officials informed that radio taxi service is likely to ensure better transport facilities along with the safety of passengers besides creating employment opportunities for people.
Transport Commissioner, Pradeep Kumar said LoI had been issued to Ala Cabs and Ala Cabs were the first and the only company to have approached us to seek permission for starting the cab aggregator service.
