First of its kind in J&K, Milk Bank sanctioned for GMC Jammu

The Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu has been sanctioned first of its kind in J&K a Milk Bank (Comprehensive lactation management centre) by the ministry of health.

A GMC spokesperson said on Sunday that the Milk Bank worth Rs 42.70 lakh has been sanctioned by the ministry of health & family welfare at the maternity hospital at Gandhi Nagar in Jammu.

It has been an effort since many years to get it sanctioned. Maternity hospital Gandhinagar is already running state of art 150 bedded NICU and taking load of SMGS Hospital as well as periphery to manage all sick neonates.                                              

The department of gynae and obstetrics is also operating patients, admitting pregnant women along with OPD for pregnant and children especially neonates.
