Fresh landslides block Jammu-Srinagar highway at Nashri, Chanderkot

In view of inclement weather conditions predicted by the Met Deptt, with a likely spell of snowfall/rainfall from tomorrow, the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and face book page.

The Traffic Police said in the evening today that the NH-44 (NHW) Up tube of Jammu-Srinagar NHW at Nashri and Chanderkote is still blocked due to landslides/shooting stones. After the clearance of the landslide at Gujjar Morh near Khooni Nallah, stranded vehicles between Nashri and Banihal are being cleared via single road stretch from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar or from Qazigund towards Jammu will be allowed right now, in view of inclement weather and the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides. Decision regarding the vehicular movement on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) shall be taken tomorrow after assessing the road conditions. Commuters are advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of road from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. The Kishtwar-Sinthen road is also shut for traffic.
