GMC Jammu strengthens national profile with 105th rank among 823 medical colleges in IIRF 2026
Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu has made a significant mark in the national medical education landscape, securing 105th rank among 823 medical colleges in the International Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2026 rankings and bagging the IIRF 2026 Trophy in recognition of its overall performance.
In recognition of this outstanding achievement, GMC Jammu has been awarded the IIRF 2026 Trophy. The trophy acknowledges the institution’s remarkable performance and its growing stature in medical education, research, innovation and healthcare delivery.
GMC Jammu has also secured 2nd place in Jammu and Kashmir and 33rd place in the North Zone, further highlighting its strong performance among medical institutions across the country. The institution secured an overall weighted index score of 804.25 out of 1,000 in the IIRF 2026 rankings, placing GMC Jammu among the leading medical colleges evaluated nationally. The college demonstrated consistent performance across various parameters, securing 133.50 marks in Teaching, Learning Resources and Pedagogy, 134.45 in Research Outcome, 138.58 in Innovative Medical Infrastructure, 135.00 in Social Inclusion, 129.00 in Future Orientation and 125.00 in External Perception.
The IIRF 2026 ranking and trophy reflect GMC Jammu’s continued commitment to academic excellence, research, innovation, social inclusion and the delivery of quality patient care. The achievement is the result of the dedicated efforts of the faculty and staff of GMC Jammu, whose collective initiatives have contributed significantly to strengthening the institution’s academic, research and healthcare Dr. Sindhu Sharma, Professor, Department of Pathology along with her other committee members- Dr. Bhawna Langar, Dr. Sapna Gupta, Dr. Sonia Jandiyal, Dr. Bharti Thaker and Dr. Pallavi Mahajan played an important role in coordinating with various departments and faculty members, compiling and validating the requisite institutional information, and submitting the data through the IIRF portal.
Speaking on the achievement, Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu, expressed pride over the national recognition and congratulated the faculty members, resident doctors, students, nursing officers, paramedical staff and other employees for their collective contribution. Dr. Gupta stated that receiving the IIRF 2026 Trophy was a proud moment for GMC Jammu and reflected the institution’s teamwork, dedication and shared commitment to excellence in medical education, research and patient care.
