Gulchain Singh Charak passes away

A senior leader of J&K and former minister Gulchain Singh Charak passed away today after prolonged illness. Charak was president of the Dogra Sadar Sabha.

Charak has remained active in struggling against discrimination with the Jammu region.

He has also been Congress incharge for Punjab.

Lt Governor Ladakh Kavinder Gupta has mourned the death of Charak. He said Charak was engaged in social service in the region.

The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President & Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday expressed profound grief over the demise of former J&K Minister Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak.

Recalling his immense contributions to public life, the duo said his passing is a significant loss to the political and social fabric of Jammu and Kashmir. They prayed for peace to his departed soul and fortitude to the bereaved family during this difficult period. 

Among others Party’s General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, Treasurer Shammi Oberoi, Advisor to HCM Nasir Aslam Wani, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq have also extended deepest condolences and sympathies with the bereaved household. 

Provincial President Jammu Rattan Lal Gupta also expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended his condolences to the bereaved family. He said Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak’s legacy as a dedicated public servant and seasoned leader would be remembered for years to come, especially for his commitment to the welfare of the people of Jammu region. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family in this hour of grief.
