Hostage rescue, counter-drone drills mark joint SOG-NSG exercise in Jammu

Personnel of the Special Operations Group (SOG) Jammu and the National Security Guard (NSG) underwent intensive training in intervention tactics, hostage rescue operations, counter-drone measures, bomb disposal techniques, use of night vision devices and live firing drills during the week-long joint exercise “Shakti Sangam,” which concluded here successfully on Saturday.

Held from June 8 to 13, the exercise was aimed at enhancing operational preparedness, strengthening inter-agency coordination and improving response capabilities to evolving security threats. The training also included the use of force multipliers and scenario-based exercises designed to sharpen real-time decision-making and coordinated responses during critical incidents.

During the training programme, personnel underwent rigorous and specialized modules covering a wide spectrum of counter-terrorism and tactical operations, officials said.

Key areas of training included Intervention Tactics, Hostage Rescue Operations, employment of Force Multipliers, handling and deployment of Bomb Disposal Equipment, Counter-Drone Measures, use of Night Vision Devices (NVDs), and Live Firing Practices. The participants also engaged in scenario-based exercises aimed at improving real-time decision-making and coordinated response during critical incidents.

The joint exercise provided a valuable platform for personnel of SOG Jammu and NSG to exchange expertise, share best practices, and enhance interoperability in conducting complex security operations. The training emphasized seamless coordination, precision, and adaptability in addressing contemporary security challenges.

Senior officers overseeing the exercise appreciated the dedication, professionalism, and enthusiasm displayed by the participating personnel. They highlighted that such collaborative training initiatives are essential for maintaining a high state of operational readiness and ensuring an effective response to emerging threats.

The successful culmination of “Shakti Sangam” marks another significant step towards strengthening the capabilities of security forces and reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding public safety and national security through continuous training and capacity building.
