It has only been months since Shah Faesal announced his departure from politics. The founder of the Jammu Kashmir Peoples’ Movement (JKPM), has praised the Union Government’s vaccination programme to the skies.
People are speculating that he wants to rejoin government services that’s why he praised the Union Government’s programme because his resignation has yet not been formally accepted by the Centre.
Shah tweeted “This is more than just a vaccination program. It’s good governance + human capital formation + nation building + India assuming global leadership as a Jagat Guru”. He had tweeted this in to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s tweet in which the PM has tweeted, “Interacting with COVID-19 vaccination beneficiaries in Kashi.”
The timing of this tweet has also surprised many. Many opposition parties are criticizing government’s vaccination program. At such a time, Faesal’s praise has caused suspicions.
On 10 August 2020, Shah Faesal announced his decision to quit politics and became virtually inactive on social media. He went into “hibernation” even though his party became one of the member of the Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).
Shah Faesal quit his government job in January 2019 and launched the political party JKPM in March same year. However, the government has not approved his resignation by now and there are chances that Shah Faesal will rejoin his old job. Even though Faesal had submitted his resignation and formed a political party, the list of IAS officers in J&K still includes his name.
Faesal said that he has quit politics. He tweeted appreciating the Prime Minister’s leadership to oversee vaccine roll out for 1.3 billion people and also using the vaccine as a symbol of India’s soft power to improve relations with other nations. He asked that when everyone is praising Narendra Modi for his COVID management then why are people surprised when he praised.
In 2010, he became the centre of everyone’s attention when he topped the civil services exam and became a part of the J&K cadre of the IAS. Later in 2018, he took a short break of one year and went for studies to Harvard in the US. After returning from the US, he decided to step into active politics and launched his own political party.
