IIT and IIM Jammu sign MoU to improve quality of education

The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT) and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu signed an MoU on Wednesday for collaboration in teaching, research and placements.

Other than that, officials said that both the institutions will also share expertise and resources to improve the quality of education. Both of these pioneering institutions located in Jammu are planning to collaborate in several parallels so that they can produce the best engineers and managers in the country.

Officials said that teams representing both the institutions met at the IIT Jammu campus to discuss the details and future of the MoU. Both the teams came to the conclusion that this collaboration of both the educational institutions will also work towards creating a “community engagement programme” which will solve the problems of the region.

Officials informed that the MoU includes academic, research, administrative, and consultancy collaborations between institutions. After signing of this MoU, students will be able to seek help of faculty members from both institutions with their academic expertise and research excellence.

Officials added that both the institutions will be sharing research and academic infrastructure and other facilities from time to time in need. Moreover, contact details of resource persons and organisations of IIT Jammu and IIM Jammu might be shared so that the placement scenario can also be improved in both the institutions.

IIT Jammu was established on May 01, 2016, after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Department of Higher Education, Government of Jammu & Kashmir and Department of Higher Education, MHRD, Government of India. An IIT campus was set up at village Jagti, Tehsil Nagrota at Jammu.

IIM Jammu is the 20th Indian Institute of Management established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. It was established on 13 October 2016 with the approval of the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
