Illegal Mining: 32 vehicles seized by Police in Ganderbal, Pulwama, Sopore
Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, J&K Police in the last five days seized 14 Vehicles, including 07 Tippers, 05 Tractors & 02 Tata Mobiles for illegal extraction of Minor Minerals across the district Ganderbal.
These vehicles were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms. Accordingly, the vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.
Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities in the district and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources. Strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices.
Sopore Police seized 01 tipper and 02 tractors involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the jurisdiction of PS Tarzoo. Strict action against illegal mining continues.
Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of mineral resources, J&K Police carried out naka checking and enforcement measures at multiple locations across the district, resulting in the seizure of 16 vehicles found involved in the illegal transportation of soil, sand and boulders.
During naka checking at Parigam, Tahab Crossing, Lassipora, Rahmoo, Abhama, Nikas, Kakapora, Kadlabal, Kandizal and Ahrihal Crossing, police parties of Police Post Newa, Police Station Pulwama, Police Post Lassipora, Police Post Rahmoo, Police Post Sangerwani, Police Post Hawal and Police Station Kakapora intercepted vehicles carrying mineral material without valid documents or requisite permission. The seized vehicles include nine tippers and six tractors, while one dumper was challaned by the Geology & Mining Department during a joint enforcement action at Ahrihal Crossing. The vehicles were found carrying illegally extracted or transported soil, sand and boulders. Necessary action was initiated against the vehicles and persons involved in accordance with law. In these cases, FIR Nos. 154/2026, 155/2026, 111/2026, 124/2026, 121/2026, 122/2026, 64/2026, 66/2026 and 113/2026, under relevant provisions of law, have been registered at Police Stations Pulwama, Litter, Rajpora and Kakapora, and investigation has been taken up.
Police remains committed to curbing illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of mineral resources and urges the public to report such activities to the Police for necessary legal action.
