Qaisar Nizami who is a Kashmir musician has been nominated for Grammy Awards for his song ‘Nazninay’, reports suggest.
The formal announcement in this regard will be made on November 23 when the name of Nizami will also be nominated. The award ceremony will however take place on January 31 next year.
It is for the first time that a singer from Kashmir valley had any song nominated for the prestigious Gammy Awards.
‘Nazninay’ was composed in collaboration with Ehsaan Matoori’s (a US-based music composer and santoor player) multinational “The Voice and Bridges” project, news agency IANS added.
Nizami had flown to the US to perform at the University of North Texas College of Music in Denton, Texas, during which the COVID-19 induced lockdown was imposed.
