IPD service begins in State Cancer Institute

IPD service started today in the 100-bed State Cancer Institute in Jammu. 

Principal GMC, Dr Ashutosh Gupta while inaugurating it, said that advance medical equipment including PET Scan, Linear Accelerators with IMRT, IGRT, SRT facility, Brachytherapy Machine and CT Simulator will be installed soon and made functional in the Institute for the benefit of the cancer patients. He said, “Our aim is to provide advance cancer care services to the people of Jammu region so that they should not have to go outside J&K for any type of cancer treatment,” .

It is pertinent to mention here that SCI was functioning with Daycare Chemotherapy and OPD services before. The OPD and Day care chemotherapy  services were started early this year in the month of February with an aim to provide doorstep treatment to the cancer patients from all over the Jammu region. 

Dr. Deepak Kumar Medical Superintendent said that the start of  IPD services in SCI, will ensure round the clock patient care services and will act as a boon for patients coming from far off areas to Jammu for cancer treatment. He apprised that within the next few months, all types of cancer care services will be provided under one roof in State Cancer Institute Jammu.

Others who were present on the occasion were Dr Rajiv Gupta, Professor, Medical Oncology, Dr Sunny Jandial, Lecturer, Medical Oncology and Mr. Jivtesh Singh CAO , GMC and SCI along with other staff members.
