Jammu doctor ‘duped’ in Rs 3.75-crore property deal, Crime Branch files FIR

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime Branch Jammu, has registered an FIR against Pieary Lal Koul S/o Janki Nath Koul R/o House No. 108, Adarsh Vihar, Channi Deeli, Jammu, following allegations of cheating, criminal breach of trust and misappropriation in connection with a high-value property transaction.

The FIR has been registered on the complaint of a renowned Jammu-based doctor, who alleged that he entered into an Agreement to Sell for the purchase of a residential plot along with a house at Channi Deeli, Jammu, for a total consideration of ₹3.75 crore. According to the complaint, the complainant initially paid a token amount and subsequently discovered that the property had allegedly been mortgaged with a bank despite being represented as free from encumbrances. It is further alleged that upon the assurance of the seller, the complainant cleared the outstanding bank liability and thereafter paid the sale consideration through bank transactions and cash, taking the total payment to approximately ₹3.75 crore.

Taking cognizance of the complaint, the Crime Branch (EOW) Jammu has registered an FIR under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and has initiated an investigation into the matter. The investigation will examine the Agreement to Sell, bank records, financial transactions, receipts and other documentary evidence.
