Jammu Rail Division detects 8,106 ticket violations, collects Rs 56.46 lakh fine in August
With the objective of creating awareness among passengers to travel with tickets and to effectively curb ticketless travel, the ticket checking drive being conducted by Jammu Division of Northern Railway collected a fine of approximately Rs. 56.46 lakh in the month of August 2026.
Under the able leadership of the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, an intensive checking drive was conducted throughout the month by the ticket checking staff of the division. This drive was conducted at all important stations of the division including Jammu, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan, Kathua, Pathankot Cantt., Jammu Tawi, Budgam and Srinagar and in various Mail/Express and special trains passing through Jammu Division.
During this period, a total of 8106 cases were detected, which included cases like travelling without ticket, irregular travel and travelling with unbooked excess luggage. A total fine of Rs. 56,46,615 was collected from all these cases as per rules.
This drive is not limited to revenue generation only, but its main objective is to provide a safe, smooth and comfortable travel experience to railway passengers. Travelling without ticket causes inconvenience to reserved passengers and also adversely affects railway services.
On this occasion, the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division said, “Jammu Division is committed to maintaining passenger convenience and railway discipline. This is the result of the dedication and continuous efforts of our ticket checking staff. Our objective is not only to take punitive action but also to make passengers aware that they must take tickets before starting their journey. Such intensive ticket checking drives will continue regularly in future as well.”
Jammu Division humbly appeals to all passengers not to travel without ticket, to board the train only with a proper ticket and to cooperate with the railway administration by showing themselves as responsible passengers.
