Jammu Railway Division to re-engage retired employees
The newly established Jammu Railway Division has decided to re-employ 80 retired railway employees, aiming to boost operational efficiency and improve passenger services through experienced manpower.
A statement issued by the Railway Division on Monday said “Following the establishment of the Jammu Division in 2025, a decision has been taken to re-engage retired railway employees across various posts within key railway departments—specifically Operating, Commercial, Personnel, and General Administration. This initiative aims to address the shortage of railway staff, ensure the smooth functioning of divisional operations, and fulfill work-related requirements. This decision has been taken in accordance with the directives issued by the Railway Board”.
Key terms and conditions regarding eligibility criteria and age limits stipulate that, as of the application deadline, a candidate’s maximum age must not exceed 64 years and 6 months. Re-engagement shall remain valid only until the employee attains the age of 65 years.
Retired employees belonging to the same cadre or category are eligible to apply. Candidates who retired from the same Pay Level will be accorded priority over those who retired from higher Pay Levels.
The selection process will not involve any written examination. Selection will be conducted by a designated committee based on the candidates’ Annual Performance Appraisal Report (APAR) grading for the preceding 5 years (with a minimum requirement of ‘Good’ grading), relevant work experience, and Vigilance clearance.
Regarding the department-wise breakdown of this re-engagement drive: 12 employees will be re-engaged in the Operating Department, approximately 48 in the Commercial Department, and approximately 20 in the Personnel and General Administration Departments. In total, 80 retired employees will be re-engaged.
Appreciating this initiative, Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, stated, “The years of experience possessed by retired railway employees, along with their dedication to their work, will prove to be a milestone in the smooth functioning of the Jammu Division. Under the new divisional structure, a decision has been taken to re-engage experienced personnel in order to enhance the effectiveness of services and further improve passenger amenities. This will not only boost operational efficiency but also provide retired employees with a golden opportunity to once again dedicate their services in the national interest.”
