In the post-graduate courses at the University of Jammu, classes for the first semester of the academic session 2020 will be held from February 15.

First semester classes will be conducted online in the initial stage. The admission process for post graduate courses in the university is going on at a fast pace. Most departments released the third merit lists.

The cut-off merit list of the reserved category will be released on Wednesday. As per university rules, classes are held after the completion of seventy percent admission process. The university is currently offering fourth semester classes. The fourth semester students have been called for offline classes.

The university has been inviting students in a phased manner to ensure adherence to the guidelines issued for prevention of coronavirus. This time the academic session has been delayed for more than seven months due to circumstances arising out of Corona. To make up for this, the university is set to release a new calendar.

The university holds first semester examinations in December or January, but the admission process is still going on. On the other hand, the University of Jammu is opening hostels for students of post-graduate fourth semester from today. Hostels are being opened under UGC rules.

Senior official of the varsity said that the allotment of hostel for the students of the first semester will be done later. The university does not want to take any risk. All the guidelines in the hostel are being ensured, he said.
