JCB, dumpers among 10 vehicles involved in illegal mining seized by Poonch Police

Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and environmental violations, District Police Poonch achieved another major success by seizing ten vehicles and heavy machines during separate enforcement operations conducted by Police Station Surankote, Police said today.


Acting on credible inputs and as part of its ongoing campaign against the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police teams of Police Station Surankote carried out intensive checking and enforcement drives at various locations within their jurisdiction. During these operations, a total of seven dumpers, one tipper, one JCB machine and one Poclain chain machine were seized for their alleged involvement in illegal mining activities, particularly from riverbeds, Police said.


Immediately after the seizure, the Mining Department were informed to initiate further proceedings under the relevant provisions of law.
Illegal mining poses a serious threat to the environment, river ecosystems and public infrastructure. District Police Poonch remains committed to taking stringent action against individuals involved in such unlawful activities and will continue to conduct regular enforcement drives to curb illegal mining across the district.


The general public has been urged to cooperate with the police by reporting instances of illegal mining or any other unlawful activities to the nearest police establishment so that prompt legal action can be taken against the violators.
