There is no doubt that Jammu and Kashmir is blessed with resources and holds the potential for local youth who have enormous natural talent and liking for water sports. Sub-Junior National Rowing Championship will be held in Dal Lake, Srinagar as hosting rights have been recently confirmed to Jammu and Kashmir.
Rowing Federation of India has granted the hosting rights to J&K. This is for the first time in the history of J&K, that a national level event will be held in discipline of Rowing.
In a recently held tournament committee meeting by the Rowing Federation of India, the hosting rights for the upcoming Sub-Junior Rowing National championship for boys and girls was confirmed to J&K.
The event will witness nearly 500 participants from more than 20 States from India. The event would be held by the J&K Rowing and Sculling Association under the auspices of the Rowing Federation of India.
J&K Rowing Association official said that after getting the support from the Federation they have been able to bag the rights and this is a milestone which they have achieved. Further the official added that J&K will be hosting a National event in Rowing for the first time. Further the official informed that past two years were a game changer for this sport as lot of developments have been done and now they have top-level water sports centre equipped with International standard rowing equipment.
Official also said that after the arrival of the latest equipment in Srinagar last year, the Federation sent two top levels senior International Rowing players to Srinagar for inspection and train players. Official further added that it is going to be in June and date is yet to be confirmed and added that for venue they have got a couple of decent patches in Dal Lake, one is near SKICC which would be used for the championship.
