Delimitation Commission on Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday signed the final order on redrawing the assembly constituencies of the Union Territory.

Official informed that Delimitation Commission headed by Justice Ranjana Desai (retd) signed final order on restructuring of assembly seats. A copy of the order and the report, detailing the number of constituencies and their size, will be submitted to the government after which the order will be issued through a gazette notification.

When delimitation commission made its draft proposal public, various suggestions and objections were invited from the public. Series of meetings were held to study the various suggestions received by members of the public, civil society and political representatives.
The panel has Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and the state election commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir as its ex-officio members. In February panel was given a two-month extension to complete its task.
