J&K government planning major promotion of tourist destinations, best facilities for tourists

Jammu and Kashmir has tremendous potential for tourism and in hope of tourism to boom in 2022, government is taking every step for the same. Government has asked tourism department to submit schemes and plans for promotion of more than 200 tourist destination, heritage and religious sites.

 Moreover, Tourism Development Corporation has been directed to keep proper maintenance and updating its official website and various social media handles by solving any issues timely.

Recently in a meeting government had directed tourism department to bring out several measures relating to various facilities that can be given to tourists.

As per reports, J&K government is making every effort to make tourists stay comfortable as they are expecting heavy tourist footfall this year. Moreover, in a meeting Chief Secretary said that necessary steps should be taken divert tourists to hidden and virgin tourist destinations and added that various road-shows had been recently conducted by the Tourism Department across major cities of the country which will play a major role in promoting tourism-related activities in the region. Chief Secretary directed the Tourism Secretary to promote 75 tourist destinations, 75 heritage sites and 75 Sufi/religious sites and submit specific plans within one month so that timely steps are taken in this regard, as per Daily Excelsior.

In order to develop 75 new tourist destinations having niche characteristics, the government wants to tap the potential of cultural and architectural heritage, eco-tourism and adventure tourism of each of the selected sites, reportedly.
