Srinagar, Nov 16: In a joint operation, Tofkhana Police Station and Southern Command Military Intelligence, Pune dismantled a racket involving fake arms licenses and illegal weapons.As per details available, on November 15, 2024, following credible intelligence, the authorities raided several locations in Ahilyanagar and nearby areas.
The operation resulted in the seizure of nine 12-bore rifles and 58 live cartridges from individuals working as security guards using fraudulent documents.The persons, all hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, had been employed as security personnel in the region, relying on fake arms licenses. After contacting authorities in Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, it was confirmed that the licenses were fake and had not been issued by any official department. The main suspect, Sher Ahmed Ghulam Hasan, from Kalakoth, Rajouri, was identified as the key facilitator who provided these fake licenses and rifles to individuals seeking jobs as security guards for Rs. 50,000 each.The arrested persons include Shabbir Mohammad Iqbal Hussain, aged 38, from Argi/Dalori in Rajouri, currently residing temporarily in Ganesh Temping, Nagapur, Ahilyanagar. Mohammad Saleem, alias Salem Gul Mohammad, aged 32, from Laha, Rajouri, also resided in Ganesh Temping, Nagapur. Mohammad Safraj Nazir Hussain, aged 24, from Kothian, Kalakoth, Rajouri, was staying in Kohinoor Jining, Ghogargaon, Ahilyanagar. Jehangir Zakir Hussain, aged 28, from M.R. Adgi/Dangri, Rajouri, had been residing in Ganesh Temping, Nagapur. Shahbaz Ahmed Nazir Hussain, aged 33, from Kothiyan, Kalakoth, Rajouri, had a temporary address in Srigonda, Ahilyanagar.Surjit Rameshchandra Singh, aged 38, from Sialsui, Kalkoth, Rajouri, had been staying in Ahmednagar, Merchant Bank, Sonai. Abdul Rashid Chidia, aged 38, from Mon, Kalakot, Rajouri, was also residing temporarily in Ahmednagar. Tufel Ahmed Mohammed Gazia, from Moghla, Kalakot, Rajouri, had a temporary address in PDC Bank Branch, Market Yard, Swargate, Pune. Sher Ahmed Ghulam Hussain, the main facilitator, from Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested after being tracked to Pune.
These persons had been working as security guards in various locations, including Ahilyanagar, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pune, Srigonda, and Sonai. Despite knowing that their arms licenses were forged, they used them to secure employment, defrauding the government and the public.A case has been filed under multiple sections of the IPC, including fraud, forgery, and illegal possession of arms, along with violations of the Arms Act.
The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of Police Inspector Anand Kokre.The operation was led by Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ola, Additional Superintendent of Police Prashant Khaire, and Southern Command Military Intelligence, with the investigation being handled by Police Inspector Anand Kokre, PSI Shailesh Patil, and other law enforcement personnel who contributed to the successful operation.
