JKAS officers have for the first time been appointed Registrars of the two universities in the Jammu division, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) and Cluster University.
The J&K government has transferred Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza, JKAS, special secretary (Revenue Department) as Registrar of the BGSBU, Rajouri, on deputation basis.
Ankur Mahajan, JKAS, additional district development commissioner, Kathua, has been appointed Registrar of the Cluster University, Jammu.
With this, the government has started the process of appointing JKAS officers on the post of Registrar of the state universities. So far the post was held by senior faculty members whose appointment was done by the respective vice-chancellors.
The government had some time back amended the rules for appointment of JKAS officers as Registrars of universities. The finance department of the government had earlier appointed chief accounts officers of some universities.
