JMCS inspects Kupwara market ahead of Eid, fines erring shopkeepers

On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir,  the teams of Joint Market Checking Squads (JMCS)  comprising  of officers from FCS&CA, Revenue, Food Safety, Municipality, Legal Meteorology, Sheep Husbandry and Police today inspected various markets of Kupwara district including Kupwara, Handwara, Langate, Sogam, Tangdar, Kralpora, Vilgam and Trehgam  to maintain price line and ensure supply of essential commodities at government approved rates in the district.

 A total of Rs 30,000 have been realised as fine from 155 erring shopkeepers  across the district, today, besides,  a large quantity of rotten vegetables destroyed.

 It is worth mentioning here that the District Administration has made elaborate arrangements  to facilitate the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. 

The teams of Joint Market Checking Squads were already constituted by Deputy Commissioner  to keep constant check on hoarding, black-marketing and profiteering across the district. 

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Handwara and Kupwara, besides Revenue officers, monitored the price line and availability of essential commodities in the markets across the district.
