JU conducts placement drive for rural studies & sociology students
Reinforcing its commitment to enhancing student employability through meaningful industry engagement, the Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Placement Cell, University of Jammu, and the Bharti Airtel Foundation, successfully conducted a placement drive for students of Rural Studies and Sociology.
The placement drive was organized under the patronage of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu.
The drive marked the second phase of the placement process, following an aptitude test held on April 9, 2026. Based on their performance, 10 students from the Master’s programmes in Rural Studies (MRS) and Sociology were shortlisted for the final round of interviews. A panel comprising representatives from the Bharti Airtel Foundation visited the campus on April 30, 2026, and conducted in-person interviews, providing students with a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills and potential.
Prof. Priyanka Sharma, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning, played a pivotal role in initiating the drive and actively motivating students to participate in the recruitment process. Dr. Bharti Pathania, Departmental Placement Officer, and Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EAIB, Department of Lifelong Learning, also made significant contributions towards the smooth execution of the drive.
The overall event was coordinated by the office of the Placement Cell, University of Jammu.The successful conduct of this placement initiative underscores the University’s proactive approach in bridging the gap between academia and industry, while creating meaningful career pathways for its students.
