Kashmir BJP leader arrested for taking money to release people from police custody

A BJP leader has been arrested by Kashmir police who was allegedly taking money for getting people released from police custody.

The BJP leader, Nisar Ahmad Khan, resident of Kadipora in Anantnag district and sarpanch of Gopalpora was arrested for reportedly taking money from two people and in return releasing them from police custody.

As per reports, police said they had two suspects from Kokernag and were called for questioning regarding a terror case.

While they were being cross-questioned to establish their involvement or otherwise, their families approached Nisar Ahamd Khan to secure their release.

After being found innocent both of the individuals were released but later police came to know that their families had paid money to Nisar Ahmad Khan for their release.

Police have registered an FIR against the BJP leader in Anantnag police station. The BJP leader had allegedly taken Rs 1.10 lakh and money has been recovered and handed over to the families.

Further investigation is going on, police claimed.
