Kashmir shivers through season’s coldest night

Srinagar :- Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, experienced its coldest night of the season as a biting cold wave gripped the region. The mercury plummeted to a bone-chilling minus 5.4 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest recorded temperature so far.

Sonamarg, a popular tourist destination, emerged as the coldest place in the region, recording a frigid minus 9.7 degrees Celsius. Other areas, including Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Shopian, Qazigund, Kupwara, and Kokernag, also witnessed significantly low temperatures, ranging from minus 4.0 to minus 8.5 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological department has forecast that the cold wave is likely to persist for the next ten days, advising residents to take necessary precautions to stay warm and safe.
