Khauf gang crackdown: SOG Jammu arrests 3 from Delhi, main accused wanted in 13 FIRs
The Special Operations Group (SOG) Jammu has busted a major link of the alleged Khauf gang with the arrest of three of its suspected members from Delhi, including Karanjit Singh alias “Gugga”, who was wanted in 13 FIRs.
Karanjit, a resident of Dablehar in R.S. Pura, is accused in the Gataroo murder case and several other cases, besides allegedly escaping from the R.S. Pura Observation Home along with two Pakistani inmates and being involved in an incident in which police personnel were allegedly assaulted and injured in firing, Police said on Wednesday.
He has been named in several other cases involving allegations of attempt to murder, assault, rioting, criminal intimidation and possession of illegal weapons.
Karanjit Singh had earlier escaped from the R.S. Pura Observation Home along with two Pakistani inmates. During the escape, police personnel on duty were allegedly assaulted and injured in firing inside Observation Home. Accordingly, FIR 39/2026 was registered by police in RS Pura.
During the same operation, two other alleged associates of the gang were also arrested from Delhi.
The arrested persons have been identified as: Naresh Kumar alias “Major”, son of Kamal Kumar, resident of Arnia. He is associated with the gang and has been involved in cases relating to violent assault, rioting and illegal possession of weapons. He is also stated to be a close associate of absconder Sunil Kumar alias “Gokul”, Police said.
Rahul Kumar alias “Sundi”, son of Bishan Dass, resident of Makhanpur, Bishnah. He is involved in a case relating to the alleged smuggling of narcotics into jail premises and has been booked under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act and the Prisons Act, Police said.
The arrests are part of the ongoing efforts of Jammu Police and the SOG to trace absconders and investigate the activities of organised criminal networks.
Further investigation is underway, and police said that additional arrests may follow based on the evidence emerging during the investigation.
