The raid was conducted by a team of police and CID wing at Kot Bhawal jail on July 15, and police recovered and seized mobile phones, SIM cards, and other electronic gadgets which were being used by inmates lodged in the jail.

This highly sensitive jail is infamous for UN-designated terrorist and founder of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), Masood Azhar, who was once detained here. During the Khandhar Hijacking episode, Masood Azhar was released from this jail.
