Ladakh CS Kundra takes stock of development in frontier region of Turtuk
On the second day of his tour to Nubra district, the Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, visited Turtuk and Bogdang villages, where he conducted a comprehensive review of developmental works and public service delivery. He also interacted with local representatives and residents to understand their concerns, aspirations, and developmental needs.
On his way to Turtuk and Bogdang, the Chief Secretary received a memorandum from representatives of the Largyab Patsathang New Settlement Area highlighting their concerns and demands.
At Bogdang, the Chief Secretary visited the Public Library and later interacted with members of the public at Government Higher Secondary School, Bogdang, where a large gathering of residents had assembled. He was accorded a traditional welcome by the local community.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary spoke about the creation of the new Turtuk-Bogdang Tehsil and assured the public that grid power connectivity would be ensured before the onset of winter. During the interaction, the Sarpanch and Numbardar apprised him of various local issues and developmental requirements.
The Chief Secretary also inaugurated the Hill Tribe Centre at Turtuk Yul and visited a traditional brass and copper craft shop, where he observed the region’s rich artisanal heritage.
At the Yabgo Museum and Palace, he was briefed on the detailed map of Baltistan, Persian architectural influences, Baltistani culture, the traditional Baltistani kitchen, the historical arms of the Yabgo Kings, and the genealogy of the Rajas of the Yabgo Dynasty of Chhorbat Khaplu, Baltistan.
The Chief Secretary also visited the Primary Health Centre, Turtuk, where he reviewed the functioning of the health facility. He enquired about staff requirements, the availability of medicines, and the tuberculosis situation in the area. He also inspected the dental section and laboratory facilities.
The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Administrative Secretary, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, Himanshu Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Nubra, Mukul Beniwal; Superintendent of Police, Nubra, Stanzin Losal; Director, Health Services, UT Ladakh; Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B), UT Ladakh; Chief Engineer, Power Development Department, UT Ladakh; Superintending Engineer, PHE & I&FC, Leh; Project Director, LREDA, Leh; Heads of Departments; and other concerned officers during the tour.
