Leh district admin announces further relaxation in new restrictions

Chairman, DDMA Leh, Shrikant Suse, has notified new SOPs/guidelines applicable from June 14 to 21 for the gradual unlocking of restrictions in Leh district.

The District Administration Leh has amended the previous roster prepared regarding commercial activities. Groceries/ general stores, fruits/ vegetable/ milk products, meat/ chicken shops, nanwai and bakeries would be allowed to open on all days of the week from 07:00 AM to 01:00 PM. Hardware shops and stores dealing with construction materials and vehicles needed for their transportation would also be allowed to open on all days from 05:00 AM to 09:00 AM.

Commercial establishments, including readymade garments/ shoe, tailoring, home furnishing, workshop/ service, tyre stations, spare part repair, automobile shops, travel and tour/ ticket booking agencies, mobile repair, electronic appliances, IT and computer shops, dish TV, recharge shops/kiosks, printing press, photo-state, stationeries/book/sports/gift shops, cosmetic, souvenir/art shops and jewellery/goldsmiths, would be allowed to open Monday to Friday from 01:00 PM till 07:00 PM.

As per the new SOPs/ guidelines, the District Administration would allow barbershops/ beauty parlours/ salons and wine shops on the weekend, i.e Saturday and Sunday, from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM. Restaurants would be allowed to operate for home delivery and take-away services on all the days from 08:00 AM to 08:00 PM. The dine-in services at restaurants would continue to remain closed as earlier. Hotels can provide room services and operate their dine-in facilities for in-house guests only with a 30% seating capacity.

The non-essential vehicular movement would be allowed on an odd/even system with 50% seating capacity. Vehicles with registration number ending with an odd number (1,3,5,7,9) would be allowed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, whereas vehicles with even numbers (0,2,4,6,8,) would be allowed on the remaining days, such as Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

The new SOPs allows e-commerce services to operate, irrespective of odd/even restrictions, from Monday to Friday from 07:00 AM to 04:00 PM. However, public transport and spa/gyms would continue to remain closed.

The developmental activities and construction works would be allowed from 14th June 2021 with minimal movement of labourers and workers. The night curfew in the district for non-essential services would remain in force on all days between 09:00PM to 05:00 AM.

The relaxations under the SOPs would not be applicable in areas notified as containment zones.
