Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha has ordered an enquiry to ascertain the cause of the accidental explosion in the Nowgam police station that killed 9 persons and injured 32.
The LG, accompanied by the chief secretary Atal Dulloo and DGP Nalin Prabhat, visited Srinagar’s SMHS hospital and met those injured in the blast.
Sinha expressed anguish over the loss of precious lives in the tragic blast.
In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said; “Deeply anguished by the loss of precious lives due to extremely tragic accidental blast at Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar. My condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for speedy recovery of the injured.
The government stands in solidarity with the families, friends, and loved ones of the departed. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected”.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station.
The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, including those of the police officers, forensic science lab personnel, revenue department officials, and other associated team members who lost their lives in this heartbreaking incident.
The government will provide every possible support to the victims and assured that the people whose houses were damaged in the explosion will be duly compensated.
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said “This heartbreaking incident lays bare the risks and difficult conditions under which our police personnel serve to keep the rest of us safe. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and prayers for strength and swift recovery for the injured”.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg along with Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo visited SMHS Hospital and Ujala Hospital to enquire about the well-being of the persons injured in the blast.
