The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, met Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Apurva Chandra and Chairman and Regional Managing Partner, EY India, in New Delhi.
During his meeting with the Secretary, I&B, Apurva Chandra; Director, Doordarshan, Gagan Puri and Additional Director General, North Zone, Akashvani and Doordarshan, LG Mathur discussed several matters, viz. delivery of maximum duration of Ladakhi content by the Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR) Kendras in Ladakh, conducting the second edition of Himalayan Film Festival, provision of DD Dish, TV and AM/FM Radio to households in border areas, etc.
Director Doordarshan apprised LG Mathur of their plans for Ladakh, viz. screening of local stories, tourism travelogues, wildlife series and govt. schemes, etc.
LG Mathur suggested strengthening radio in Ladakh due to its importance, especially for nomads residing in Changthang.
ADG NZ Akashvani and Doordarshan shared that 5 kW transmitters are presently installed in Leh and Kargil. He further shared that higher power transmitters shall be required to improve the radio coverage in Ladakh.
LG Mathur also requested for assistance from the Ministry of I&B in conducting the second edition of the Himalayan Film Festival. He also informed about the need to install two extra screens at the Sindhu Sanskriti Auditorium for the film festival and to add other infrastructures like meeting halls and commercial areas there.
In his meeting with the Chairman of EY India and his team, LG Mathur reviewed the progress of projects undertaken by them for the Planning Department and the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme in Ladakh.
