Major reshuffle in police department in J&K, SSP Srinagar transferred within 9 months

In a major step and ongoing tensions among the valley and spike of terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir a major reshuffle has been announced by the government.

Moreover, J&K government on Thursday replaced the Srinagar senior superintendent of police (SP), Sandeep Chaudhary just after nine months of posting him at top position. Chaudhary, a 2012-batch IPS officer, who has now been moved to the cyber crime investigation centre for excellence as SSP, was posted as Srinagar police chief in March this year.

As well as 27 police officers were transferred and posted at various positions. Javid Ahmed Koul, SSP Traffic City Srinagar has been transferred and posted as SO to ADGP, Traffic J&K with additional charge of the posts of DIG, Traffic Jammu and DIG Traffic, Kashmir.

Rakesh Balwal, awaiting orders of appointment has been posted as the new SSP Srinagar. Shridhar Patil, IPS, awaiting orders of posting upon modification of transfer on deputation to the Union territory of Ladakh, is posted as AIG (Tech) PHQ, against an available vacancy. Liaqat Ali, Addl. SP Poonch was transferred and posted as SP APCR Kashmir, against an available vacancy.
Rakesh Kumar, SO to ADGP Traffic J&K has been transferred and shall wait further posting in PHQ.


Sanjay Kumar Bhagat, SO to IGP Technical Services has been transferred and posted as Commandant Women Battalion Kashmir, against an available vacancy. Mohammad Aslam, SSP, CID HQ, J&K, is transferred and posted as SSP Rajouri.

Many other transfers and postings have been announced.
