Man from Kashmir sent to quarantine after he spits in open

A Kashmiri who claimed himself to be a government employee was detained after complaints that he was spitting in open by people in Jammu and sent into quarantine. People, wary of suspicious activity by the man, immediately complained to the police after they saw a man spitting in open.

Acting on the complaints of people, a police team accompanied by a doctor and a magistrate arrived in Janipur area of the city and questioned the man asking him why he was wandering in the area as there is lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19, they said.

He was sent to quarantine in an ambulance, the officials added.

The man claimed to be an employee of the Transport Department of the Jammu and Kashmir administration, they said, adding that he apologised to the police team later.

Jammu has witnessed cases of Coronavirus in the recent past after which the lockdown has been made stricter. Most of the people remain inside during entire day to avoid contract any kind of infection from their surroundings. The incident of spitting on gates is not new as many cases have reportedly taken place where similar instances took place. (With inputs from agencies)
