KULGAM : In a significant response to the recent terror attack in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir Police has conducted extensive overnight raids across the Kashmir valley and detained over 500 individuals suspected of being over ground workers or terror associates as well as those with a history of terror-related activities.
The crackdown follows Monday’s attack in Behibagh area of Kulgam, where militants opened fire on three civilians at close range, leaving them critically injured. Tragically, Manzoor Ahmad Wagay, a former Territorial Army soldier, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. His wife, Aaina Akhtar (32), and a 13-year-old girl, Sania Hameed, sustained leg injuries but are reportedly stable.
A senior police official said, “We have launched a massive operation across the valley to identify and apprehend those having links with terrorist networks. More than 500 suspects have been detained for questioning to identify those who committed this crime and prevent any such further attacks.” He was of the opinion that those involved in this attack would be brought before the courts of law, and maximum safety and security would be guaranteed for all residents and visitors in Kashmir.
According to officials, an investigation into the Kulgam attack is still going on, and the detainees have been questioned about their alleged involvement in terror-related activities.
