Poonch :- Mughal Road, a historic highway connecting the districts of Poonch and Rajouri to Kashmir, has been reopened for traffic after being closed for two days due to heavy snowfall. The road was cleared of snow this afternoon, bringing much-needed relief to the residents of the region. As a precautionary measure, the Poonch police station in-charge and traffic police have advised drivers to drive cautiously on the slippery road.
Traffic is being allowed to move slowly and steadily. The road had been temporarily closed for traffic on Sunday due to fresh snowfall. Snow clearance operations were carried out on Monday as well, but fresh snowfall resumed in the evening. However, the efforts to clear the road resumed early this morning and were completed by the afternoon. To prevent ice formation on the road, the department has spread salt from the Poonch police station to Peer ki Gali.
The Mughal Road is a lifeline for the people of Poonch and Rajouri districts, and its closure significantly disrupts their lives.
