Navratri celebrations in J&K, tourism department organizes Garba and dandiya night

Since the festival season is here, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department for the Navratri celebrations organised a Garba and Dandiya night in Gulshan Ground, Jammu on Saturday.

Several artists performed in the event which was widely enjoyed by the people.

Vivekanand Rai, Director, Tourism (Jammu) said that the festival will help in bringing boost to tourism and cultural exchange in the Union Territory.

He further said that the Navratri festival has been initiated from Katra this year and held a Garbha and Dandiya night in Jammu. He further informed that more activities will be done in future to increase the tourist footfall and public participation. Adding further he said that though Dandiya is from Gujarat but such events leads to cultural exchange as it is celebrated everywhere.

AK Sehgal, a travel writer also said that Navratri is an iconic festival, not only for Dogra community and India but also on a global level as various forms of goddess Vaishno Devi are worshipped. He further added that the celebrations way to showcase these forms of the goddess, which are being carried out in the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir this time around.

Varun, a visitor associated with the Hotel industry also expressed his optimism that the celebrations of various festivals will help revive the tourism and hospitality business.

He further added that such events helps in raising the hopes of something good after the peak of Covid-19 pandemic and he appreciated the the initaive of government of Jammu and Kashmir that Dandiya night is being held and Navratri is being celebrated in the Union Territory.
