NGDRS launched in Ladakh for online registration of properties

The Department of Land Resources (DoLR), Ministry of Rural Development, today virtually launched the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) in Ladakh in the presence of Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Singh and Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur.

LG Mathur thanked the Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and the Department of Land Resources for their support and the smooth functioning of all schemes, including SVAMITVA. He stated that replacing the old system with a new international-standard system will benefit Ladakh.

Terming the introduction of NGDRS and SVAMITVA as timely in Ladakh, LG Mathur stated that the SVAMITVA scheme would be expanded to cover entire Ladakh and also shared that the target is to complete all works related to the implementation of both these schemes within two years.

He also shared that Ladakh has 14 registration offices, including two registrars and 12 sub-registrars offices (SROs). LG Mathur also informed about training provided by the Administration to all the concerned officials, lawyers and deed writers, etc.

Principal/Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal, gave a detailed presentation on the e-Governance initiative of the Government of India that aims at ‘One Nation One Software’ and shared the features, document registration system and the benefits of NGDRS.

Minister of State for Rural Development, Faggan Singh Kulaste; Minister of State for Rural Development, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Kapil Moreshwar Patil, also spoke on the occasion and termed the project as a revolutionary initiative by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and also appreciated the efforts of the government to bring transparency in property records.
