Nursing staff, MLA Arvind Gupta hold peaceful dialogue at GMC Jammu

In an effort to ease tensions following the recent Emergency Ward-7 incident, the administration at Government Medical College Jammu on Monday convened a meeting between the nursing staff and concerned stakeholders, stressing collective responsibility towards patient care and institutional harmony. Both sides agreed to maintain mutual respect and improve coordination within the institution.

In a statement, the GMC said “Today, a meeting was held in the office of the Principal and Dean, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, regarding the recent incident involving the nursing staff in Emergency Ward–7”.

“During the meeting, both sides discussed the matter in a cordial and constructive atmosphere. The concerns and sentiments of the nursing staff were respectfully placed before the authorities, while the concerned MLA, Arvind Gupta, also shared his perspective regarding the incident and the subsequent developments”.

“The Nursing Association GMC Jammu reiterated that the primary objective of the staff was to safeguard the dignity, professional respect, and working environment of healthcare workers. It was also clarified that the representations submitted to higher authorities were part of the institutional process and were not intended to target any individual personally”.

“The meeting concluded on a positive note with emphasis on maintaining mutual respect, better coordination, and a healthy working atmosphere in the institution. Both sides expressed the need to avoid misunderstandings in future and to work collectively in the larger interest of patient care and hospital administration”.

“The Nursing Association GMC Jammu appreciates the intervention of the administration in facilitating a peaceful and respectful dialogue”, the statement added.
