One person arrested for providing logistic support to terrorists involved in killing of VDG member in Udhampur

Jammu and Kashmir Police in Udhampur have arrested one person in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Basantgarh encounter case. The encounter, which took place on 28th of April 2024 in the Chochru Gala area of Basantgarh, resulted in the martyrdom of a VDG personnel, Mohammad Sharif.

The police investigation led them to Javed S/O Mohd. Hussain, a resident of Loha Nathi in Kathua. He is accused of providing logistical support to the terrorists involved in the encounter.

This is the first arrest made by the police in this case. The investigation is still ongoing.

Udhampur Police have also released sketches of six  suspected terrorists, based on information gathered during the investigation. They are seeking public assistance in identifying these individuals and offering a 5-10 Lakh cash reward for each Suspect Militants  for any information leading to their apprehension.
