Opposition demands for immediate restoration of statehood to J&K

19 opposition parties have asked for immediate restoration statehood status to Jammu and Kashmir. The opposition has also demanded early and fair assembly polls in J&K.

The demands pertaining to J&K were part of a joint statement issued by the 19 opposition parties parties after a virtual meeting also attended by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, NCP supremo Sharad Yadav, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti among others.

A joint statement was also issued by leaders of these political parties after the meeting asking for restoration of full statehood.
