Srinagar :- In a decisive strike against narcotics trafficking, Srinagar Police have attached property worth lakhs of rupees belonging to a notorious drug peddler in the Noorbagh area. The action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The accused, identified as Mohd Irfan Sheikh, son of Mohd Ashraf Sheikh from Pamposh Colony Palpora, came under police scrutiny following the registration of FIR No. 134/2024 at Police Post Noorbagh. During the investigation, authorities discovered that Sheikh had amassed significant assets, including a house and land, through illicit drug trading proceeds.The investigation revealed that substantial quantities of narcotic substances had been seized from the accused.
Following due legal procedures under the NDPS Act, law enforcement officials have attached Sheikh’s property, which includes both his house and land holdings.This action represents part of the ongoing efforts by Srinagar Police to combat drug trafficking in the region, targeting not just the trade itself but also the assets acquired through illegal drug money. The attachment of property serves as a deterrent message to others involved in the narcotics trade.
