Pulwama terror support case ends in conviction of three under UAPA

In a significant legal breakthrough, Police in Pulwama has successfully secured the conviction of three accused persons in a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

The conviction was recorded by the Special Court designated under the NIA Act, Pulwama, in connection with FIR No. 151/2022 of Police Station Pulwama under sections 307 IPC, 7/27 Arms Act and Sections 16, 18, 19, 20, 38 & 39 of the UA(P) Act.

The accused were found guilty of providing shelter and support to terrorists of a banned organisation. Mehraj Ud Din Mir was convicted under Sections 19 & 39 of the UA(P) Act and sentenced to 3 years simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs.10,000 under Section 19 and 03 years and 10 months imprisonment under Section 39, with sentences to run concurrently, while Firdous Ahmad Bhat and Irshad Ahmad Malik were convicted under Section 39 of the UA(P) Act and sentenced to 3 years and 10 months imprisonment each. The period already spent in custody shall be set off.

The conviction is the result of a professional investigation and effective prosecution by J&K Police, which reiterates its firm commitment to act decisively against terrorism and its support networks.
