Rajouri tense after attack on BJP leader’s home that killed a minor

Rajouri district of Jammu division remained tense on Friday after a a 2-year-old was killed and at least six people injured in a grenade attack on the residence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jasbir Singh in Khandli area on Thursday. The deceased minor was the nephew of Jasbir.

Jammu ADGP confirmed that the grenade attack was carried out by unknown persons when the family was on their terrace.

Soon after the attack security forces rushed to the scene and started with a search operation to look for the attackers. 

A police officer said Singh, 36, and his five family members suffered shrapnel injuries in the attack. Two of them were referred to a Jammu for treatment.

Attack was strongly condemned by the BJP that has appealed to the police for immediate arrest of those responsible for the dastardly crime.

Massive security has been deployed in Rajouri in the wake of the grenade attack at Singh’s residence.

J&K Police chief Dilbag Singh said that three to four groups of terrorists have infiltrated into the region from across the border recently.
