Rates of essential commodities including meat and milk fixed in J&K

Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, who is also the District Controller General of Prices, today re-fixed the retail prices of various commodities.

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Bharat Bhushan; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr. Vikas Gupta; Assistant Director, FCS&CA, Sohaib Latief; Area Marketing Officer, Sunil Kumar Bakshi; Designated Officer Food Safety, LMD, Anil Kumar and other officers attended the meeting.

The DC also convened a meeting of representatives of business organisations dealing in fresh supplies including fruits, vegetables, dairy products, poultry and mutton etc. and discussed various issues pertaining to demand and supply in Ramban especially during the Holy month of Ramadan and  ensuing festivals.  

After threadbare discussions and taking into account the civil society recommendations, the DC fixed the rates of Mutton, Chicken and Milk products under notification for which orders were subsequently issued.  

The DC directed Tehsildars, Assistant Director, FCS&CA, Ramban, Designated Officer, Food Safety, Chief Executive Officer/Executive Officer Municipal Council/Municipal Committees, Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, Tehsil Supply Officer (FCS&CA) concerned, Authorized representatives of Sheep and Animal Husbandry departments and SHO P/S concerned to ensure the implementation of the notified rates in letter and spirit in the district.

The shopkeepers were also directed to cover eatables with cloth/mirror besides maintaining hygienic conditions in their wholesale/ retail outlets.

They were also directed to display rate lists at prominent places in their shops for convenience of the consumers, besides using only electronic weighing machines.  Any deviation of the laid down conditions shall be dealt strictly as per the law, he added.
