Remote Ladakh village gets electricity after 70 years

In a significant development, Photoksar village which is one of the remotest villages of Leh district sandwiched in-between two major passes Sirsir –La ( 4805 m) and Singey –La ( 5000 m) got electricity after 70 years.The Chairman/ Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Leh Advocate Tashi Gyalson who is also the area Councillor inaugurated the NHPC Power Grid line for Photoksar under DDUGJY at Photoksar village yesterday thus electrifying the village after 70 years. The engineers of NHPC, PDD and people of Photoksar were present on the occasion. https://jknewsline.com/31-year-old-ladakhi-porter-who-has-saved-lives-of-many-soldiers/ CEC Gyalson said that it is because of the visionary initiatives of Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi who launched Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana and energetic efforts of MP Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal that today after 70 years of darkness, the village like Photoksar got electrified and thanked PM Modi and MP JTN for electrifying such remotest village on behalf of people of Photoksar village which is the basic need of the people. “I feel very lucky to inaugurate this power line merely in period of one month after becoming Counicllor of the area and later CEC.” Said CEC Gyalson and congratulated the people of Photoksar for this major development and assured to electrify Yulchung, Nyraks, Skyumpata, Lingshed and Dipling villages in coming years. Later, CEC Gyalson inspected the newly constructed major bridge constructed by 81 RCC beneath Singhey-La at Manay-chan which will prove very beneficial for people of Linghsed, Nyraks and people travelling between Wanla-Linghsed –Zanskar road vice versa and for the army.En-route CEC also met with people of Hanu-Pata, Fajila and Wanla and assured them for early redressal of their pending demands and issues at earliest possible time.
